Microsoft EWS

The Microsoft EWS Import Task is suitable for importing mailboxes from an MS Exchange Server.
The wizard offers you a list of all mailboxes from which you can select specific mailboxes.
The Microsoft EWS Import Task can be used to import user mailboxes, archive mailboxes, shared level mailboxes and public folders.

When using the MS-Exchange import interface, the Exchange Server must be configured accordingly.

The following MS Exchange versions are supported:

MS Exchange Server 2016.
MS Exchange Server 2019.

The following steps are required to import via an Microsoft EWS:

  • LDAP Connection String: Specify the AD server (Syntax ldaps://IP or ldaps://Hostname or ldap://IP or ldap://Hostname).
  • User Name: Specify a user with impersonation permission.
  • Password: Specify the password associated with the user.
  • Base DN: Enter the Base DN here (Syntax DC=Domain,DC=TLD), or use the Search icon to select the Base DN and confirm via "Apply".
    EWS Host: Enter the Exchange Server
  • EWS Mailbox Type: Select whether User Mailboxes, Archive Mailboxes, Shared Mailboxes or Public Folders are to be imported.

Finally, you can test the connection

Select here which objects are to be imported.

Select an already created container as the target for the import or create it via "Create New Container".
There is also the option of selecting the REDDOXX Cloud Archive as the destination, if this has been configured in the settings (https://toolbox-2034.docs.reddoxx.com/en/setup/konfiguration#reddoxx-cloud).

The ACLs can be used to grant access rights to an imported e-mail.
A user has one or more e-mail addresses.
If one of these addresses is entered in the ACLs, the user may access this e-mail in the MailDepot.
Usually, the sender and recipient addresses are entered in the ACLs, as these are located in the headers of an Internet e-mail.
However, other addresses can also be added statically.

Include mail header for ACL
All sender and recipient addresses from the mail header are used to determine the ACLs.
Both the "TO" and the "CC" addresses are taken into account.
This is also the default case.

Static ACL
To allow additional users to access the e-mails to be imported, additional e-mail addresses can be entered in the ACL.

Deleted items, spam (junk mails) and drafts can be excluded from the import here.

In addition, you can select whether certain folders should be excluded from the import or whether all folders should be imported except for certain specified folders (this filter is deactivated / disabled by default).

With the message filter, e-mails can be further restricted for import by the selection criteria date and size.

Archive only if newer than
Only emails created after the specified time are archived.

Archive only if older than
Only emails that were created before the specified time are archived.

Archive only if greater than
Only emails that are greater than the specified value are archived.

Archive only if less than
Only emails that are smaller than the specified value are archived.
